The proposal explores how playful paving patterns, seasonal flowering trees, shaded gathering areas, children’s play features, and a small community farming garden can work together to create a more memorable public environment.

The design concept introduces a flowing ground pattern with bold colors to create movement, identity, and visual energy. Rather than treating the playground as a single, isolated play zone, the proposal integrates play, walking, seating, planting, and garden-learning areas into a cohesive landscape experience.

A key idea of the proposal is to expand the role of the playground beyond recreation. The upgraded space can support children’s play, family gatherings, outdoor learning, neighborhood events, and community gardening.

Seasonal flowering trees and layered planting areas provide beauty, shade, and ecological value while helping soften the edge between the playground, road corridor, and surrounding landscape.
The proposed community farming area adds educational and social components, making the playground a place where children and families can experience nature, food, and landscape stewardship in a simple and engaging way.
This concept reflects Walter Ryu Studio’s continuing interest in creative placemaking, public landscape improvement, and the transformation of everyday community spaces into distinctive places of identity, learning, and connection.
